Immutable X is a revolutionary layer-2 technology for Ethereum, also known as immutable x imx. It was designed to serve the specific purpose of scalability in the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) market. By implementing the Immutable X protocol, this solution utilizes StarkWare’s zero-knowledge-proof technology to offer zero gas fees, carbon-neutrality, and the capability to process up to 9,000 transactions per second (TPS). As a core component of the Immutable X ecosystem, the IMX token serves as a utility and governance token, with a total supply of 2 billion tokens.
Immutable X is transforming the NFT landscape with its emphasis on scalability, cost-efficiency, and user experience, making it an attractive platform for NFT projects, blockchain gaming, and beyond.
Immutable X was founded by James Ferguson, Robbie Ferguson, and Alex Connolly, with the aim of addressing Ethereum’s scalability issues in the NFT gaming ecosystem. The founders recognized the potential of NFTs and the limitations of the Ethereum blockchain in supporting the growing needs of the gaming industry. They initiated a quest to create a solution that would rise above these challenges, ensuring a seamless experience for users and developers.
Their vision led to the development of Immutable X, a layer-2 scaling solution that leverages StarkWare’s zero-knowledge (zk) rollup technology to enable fast, secure, and cost-effective transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. This novel method has drawn substantial investments, notably from Apex Capital Partners, thus bolstering Immutable X’s growth and enhancing its influence in the NFT gaming ecosystem.
Immutable X boasts an array of key features that set it apart from other blockchain solutions. Notably, it can provide:
Instant trade execution
Zero gas fees
High scalability
Carbon-neutral NFTs
These attributes make Immutable X not only an appealing choice for NFT creators and collectors but also a driving force for sustainable blockchain solutions.
Security is another critical aspect of Immutable X. With Ethereum-grade security, the platform is highly resistant to attack or ransom. Furthermore, it employs zk-Rollups to guarantee secure and inviolable NFT ownership and transactions. The combination of these features positions Immutable X as a leading platform for NFT marketplaces, blockchain gaming, and other use cases that demand fast, secure, and cost-effective transactions, while ensuring asset security.
The IMX token lies at the heart of the Immutable X ecosystem. Here are some key details about the token:
Total supply: 2 billion tokens
Token type: ERC-20 utility and governance token
Popularity: One of the most popular digital assets on the market
Influence: IMX tokens significantly influence transaction fees, incentives, staking, and governance within the Immutable X platform.
Users can acquire and trade IMX tokens through various methods, such as buying, trading, and staking, thereby participating in the growth and future development of the Immutable ecosystem.
IMX tokens serve a vital function in covering trading fees and offering incentives within the Immutable X ecosystem. Immutable X imposes a 2% fee on all secondary trades, which is payable with IMX tokens. This protocol fee is distinct from gas fees and allows users to utilize the native token of the Immutable X platform to cover their trading fees.
Additionally, Immutable X offers incentives to its users through the User Rewards program, where they can earn points by trading NFTs on the platform and redeem these points for IMX tokens.
IMX token holders can stake their tokens to receive rewards from a staking pool every 14 days. Staking involves locking tokens for a predetermined period, with the amount of rewards based on the number of tokens staked and the duration of the stake. This process allows users to participate in the prosperity and future development of the Immutable ecosystem while earning potential returns on their holdings.
Moreover, staking IMX tokens enables users to take part in governance decisions, such as token allocation and changes in token supply. The voting power of each IMX token holder is based on the number of coins they possess, granting them the ability to cast votes on important decisions related to the game or protocol’s future.
IMX token holders have the opportunity to participate in governance decisions within the Immutable X ecosystem, including token allocation and alterations in circulating supply. Voting power is determined by the number of IMX tokens held by each user, allowing them to have a say in essential decisions related to the protocol or ecosystem.
Staking and participating in governance enables IMX token holders to influence the future trajectory of Immutable X and contribute to its sustained success.
At its core, Immutable X employs cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure to provide a scalable and secure platform for NFT transactions. Key components include ZK-Rollup technology, an API abstraction layer, and robust security measures.
These technologies collaborate to guarantee efficient, secure, and cost-effective transactions, rendering Immutable X a compelling option for diverse use cases and applications in the NFT and blockchain domain.
ZK-Rollup technology is a cornerstone of Immutable X, enabling efficient transaction processing with high privacy and security. By grouping hundreds of transactions into a single zero-knowledge proof known as the zk-STARK proof, ZK-Rollup technology allows for:
Enhanced throughput and scalability
Preserving security
Significantly reducing transaction costs
Improving transaction speeds
This makes Immutable X an ideal platform for NFT marketplaces, blockchain gaming, and other use cases.
Moreover, ZK-Rollup technology leverages zero-knowledge proofs to ensure high privacy in transaction processing. These proofs enable transactions to be validated off-chain without exposing any sensitive data, protecting user privacy and maintaining security. As a result, Immutable X can offer a highly secure and efficient platform for NFT transactions, benefiting both creators and collectors.
The API abstraction layer in Immutable X serves as a technological intermediary, simplifying the process of interacting with the blockchain for business applications. By providing a straightforward and consistent interface for developers to interact with the blockchain, the API abstraction layer conceals the complexities of the underlying technology and enables simpler integration of blockchain capability into existing applications.
This abstraction layer also encourages interoperability between different blockchain platforms, further enhancing the versatility and potential of Immutable X.
Immutable X places a high emphasis on user security, employing a range of measures to ensure the safety and integrity of its platform. One of the most critical security measures is the use of zero-knowledge proofs, which authenticate transactions while keeping confidential data undisclosed. This approach ensures that user information remains private and secure, even as transactions are processed and verified.
Beyond zero-knowledge proofs, Immutable X employs the following measures to fortify its security infrastructure:
Sharding: This divides the Ethereum network into multiple smaller sections, reducing the attack surface and strengthening the entire system against potential risks.
Smart contracts: These automate various processes on the platform, increasing efficiency and security.
Routine security audits: Immutable X conducts regular security audits to identify and address any vulnerabilities.
By combining these measures, Immutable X provides a secure and reliable platform for NFT transactions, giving users peace of mind as they engage with the ecosystem.
Immutable X offers a range of use cases and applications, making it a versatile and powerful platform for the NFT and blockchain space. Some of the most prominent use cases include:
