Detailed Summary
SoSoValue is a web3 data and investment platform that provides new and experienced users alike with all the tools they need to become successful traders or investors. It assists users by providing reliable on-chain and off-chain data that can help them make more informed choices.
In addition, SoSoValue also provides index tokens that use AI-powered investment and research to simplify crypto investing. In this article, we’ll look at the platform in detail and delve into how it works, what services it offers and the new SOSO tokenomics.
Key Takeaways:
SoSoValue offers AI-powered market research and an SSI protocol for index-based investment solutions. The SOSO token empowers users through governance, staking and other incentives programs.
The SSI Protocol bundles multiple assets into index tokens, providing investors with diversification, transparency and easy access to various crypto sectors.
As of January 2025, SSI offers four index products: MAG7, MEME, DEFI and USSI.
What Is SoSoValue?
SoSoValue aims to address one of the biggest challenges faced by investors in the cryptocurrency market by cutting through the noise and hype to find hidden gems. The platform consists of two main components: a market research section, and a decentralized SSI protocol.
Market research is used to synthesize large amounts of data to provide actionable insights to SoSoValue’s users. In addition to standard data points like current price, volume, market cap and FDV, the research section also provides additional insights into ETF inflows, fundraising announcements, macro analysis and news feeds.
The second major component of SoSoValue is the SoSoValue Indices (SSI) Protocol, which offers a simple index solution for investors who want to avoid traditional barriers, such as high fees, slow settlement times and market access restrictions. SoSoValue aims to provide a centralized finance (CeFi)–like experience while maintaining the transparency of decentralized finance (DeFi).
Founders of SoSoValue
SoSoValue is a Singapore-based project founded in December 2023 by Jiva Kwan, Jessie Lo and May Wang. In January 2025, the platform raised over $15 million in a Series A funding round to launch its spot index protocol, SSI. The fundraise had a $200 million valuation and was led by HSG and SmallSpark. Other major participants in the fundraise included Mirana Ventures and SafePal. In total, the project has raised over $20 million through multiple investment rounds.
How Does SSI Work?
SoSoValue Index Protocol is a spot index solution that’s designed to make crypto investment easy and secure. Within traditional finance (TradFi), an index fund is an investment instrument that tracks the return of a group of equities in the stock market.
Some well-known examples within equities include the S&P 500, Russell 2000 and Wilshire 5000 index funds. These instruments track the value of all the stocks that are part of their indices. Since index funds track a large number of assets, they automatically provide investors with a diversified portfolio and an easy way of getting exposure to multiple assets, without individually purchasing each one.
With the launch of SSI, SoSoValue aims to bring the same level of convenience to crypto investors. The SSI Protocol uses on-chain smart contracts to bundle multiple assets from different chains into wrapped SSI tokens. These tokens reflect the value of the underlying assets, with their price tracking the movements of those assets.
SoSo Value’s platform uses on-chain architecture, whitelisted liquidity providers, proactive market makers and third-party custodians to convert a batch of underlying tokens into the SSI Index tokens. The exact process of minting an SSI token (see graphic) is as follows
1. The Whitelisted Liquidity Provider (WLP) requests the quote from the protocol server, which will return a quote order.
2. If the order price is favorable, the WLP can then choose to mint the index token on-chain and transfer the cash to the protocol contract.
3. The protocol will verify the order and inform the proactive market makers (PMM) to buy all the underlying tokens in the spot market.
4. The PMM buys the tokens and sends them to custodian wallets.
5. After verifying the transfer of the underlying tokens to the custodian wallet, the protocol transfers the cash to the PMM. It then mints the SSI token and transfers it to the WLP.
This process ensures that multiple assets on different chains can be bought and indexed at the same time, while also ensuring the safety of the investor’s capital. As of January 2025, SSI has launched four indices that track major assets in different web3 sectors.
SoSoValue Index Products
MAG7.ssi tracks the top seven projects by market cap. The minimum weight for each constituent is 10%, with the remaining weighted average based on the circulating market cap at that time. Its custodians are digital asset platforms Cobo and Ceffu, and the index is rebalanced every month.
MEME.ssi tracks the 10 biggest meme projects. This index is for investors who are less risk-averse, and don’t want to miss out on the exceptional returns that meme coins could provide. Only large market cap and highly liquid projects are selected, in order to mitigate some of the risk and volatility associated with meme coins. Constituent weighting is based on the circulating market cap and the index is rebalanced every month. Custodians are Cobo and Ceffu.
DEFI.ssi is a curated selection of large market cap DeFi assets that are managed through a market cap weighted strategy. There are 10 constituents, and the index is rebalanced every month. Custodians are Cobo and Ceffu.
USSI is a delta-neutral strategy that provides consistent yield through funding rates on perpetual markets. Only the top seven cryptocurrencies by market cap are used, in order to ensure good liquidity. Since the funding rate can see significant increases during bull markets, this strategy aims to provide good returns with less risk.
SOSO Tokenomics
SoSoValue is set to launch its own native token, SOSO, which will act as its ecosystem’s governance token. SOSO holders will have the right to propose and vote on changes to the protocol and to participate in key decisions, including protocol upgrades, parameter adjustments and the launch of new features.
The total supply of SOSO tokens is 1 billion. Token distribution is as follows:
Core Contributors: 33% (18-month cliff & 36-month linear monthly vesting)
Ecosystem: 30% (15% released at token generation event, followed by 60-month linear monthly vesting)
Foundation: 17% (15% released at TGE, followed by 60-month linear monthly vesting)
Investors: 16.5% (12-month cliff & 18-month linear monthly vesting)
Partners: 3.5% (18-month cliff & 36-month linear monthly vesting)
Along with the token’s launch, SoSoValue has also announced multiple programs to incentivize new users to adopt both the native SOSO and SSI tokens.
Bybit SOSO Launchpool
To make it easier for Bybit users to benefit from these programs, Bybit has teamed up with SoSoValue and launched a Bybit Launchpool. From Jan 20–31, 2025, users can stake SOSO, BBSOL or USDT and grab a share of 4,000,000 SOSO tokens.
