What Is the Bybit World Series of Trading (WSOT)?

WSOT, the World Series of Trading, is the largest crypto trading competition in the world. There's a lot of buzz around the event because 10 million USDT is up for grabs. Anyone who knows how to trade crypto or who's interested in following experienced crypto traders can participate by registering at the official tournament website.

The mega-event is a brainchild of Bybit, the innovative crypto exchange established in 2018. Bybit held the inaugural WSOT in 2020 when traders took away nearly $1.27 million in prize money. The overwhelming success of the inaugural WSOT 2020 turned it into a grand annual event, each year bigger than the previous one.

Key Takeaways:

• WSOT is the largest crypto trading competition in the world, offering a current total prize pool of 10 million USDT.

• The competition allows individuals to compete solo or join squads, and anyone with a Unified Trading Account can participate.

• WSOT 2025 is unique in its integration of web3, the use of Subaccounts to participate in multiple competitions and a weighted asset tier system that encourages fair fights among individuals.

How Does WSOT Work?

The World Series of Trading (WSOT) is Bybit’s biggest annual trading competition, with a massive prize pool worth millions of dollars.

Every trader joining the tournament can either participate as an individual, or join forces in order to participate as part of a squad. Squads are ranked according to a profit-loss formula. In 2024, the leading troop received 144,000 USDT. Meanwhile, individual players are ranked according to either their PnL or trading volume. The leading player for PnL in 2024 reaped $120,251.10 in PnL and earned 19,200 USDT, while the top player for trading volume achieved 1,706,968,467 USDT and earned 200,000 USDT.

The competition typically involves derivatives trading for squads and solo players, with side campaigns involving lucky draws and lotteries. WSOT 2023 included a new category, Copy Trading, through which Master Traders and followers can reap the rewards. WSOT 2024 added a web3 voting competition in addition to the Copy Trading side competition. This year’s WSOT features a Preheat event and a decentralized exchange (DEX) competition on top of the Main Competition.

According to Ben Zhou, co-founder of the Bybit platform, not only was WSOT created for traders all over the world to learn more about crypto trading and win prizes, but Bybit has also pledged to use a part of the WSOT winnings to finance education and as charitable contributions.

In 2022, $400,000 worth of BTC was donated to UNICEF to provide science and technology to marginalized communities in East Asia and Pacific. For WSOT 2023, 5% of the eventual prize pool plus contributions from Bybit, totaling up to 400,000 USDT worth of United Arab Emirates dirham (AED), was contributed to the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre and other blockchain organizations to support the growth of the crypto industry.

For WSOT 2024, Bybit contributed up to 75 ETH to sponsor Ethereum’s first Attackathon — a global hackathon launched in collaboration with Immunefi and the Ethereum Foundation. This sponsorship aims to support and advance the Ethereum ecosystem’s Public Good Protocol.

WSOT 2025

So far, in 2025, Bybit has pledged 300,000 USDT to be donated to global blockchain education initiatives through the Bybit Rising Fund as part of our mission to rewrite what corporate social responsibility (CSR) means in crypto and reshape access to the industry.

For the first time, Bybit is decentralizing its control of the CSR prize pool, empowering each region to co-create with educational programs, scholarships or hackathons with local institutions. This transforms WSOT from a global competition into a campaign with real social impact in each region, building the world’s strongest network for next-gen fintech talent.

Why Should You Join WSOT?

The WSOT Bybit tournament has already attracted thousands of participants, as it allows both professional and novice traders to benefit. The highlight of WSOT is you don't have to be a pro to take home huge prizes and bonuses. If your team can generate profits and end up high in the overall ranking, every member of the squad will benefit.

For WSOT 2025, besides the jaw-dropping prize pool of up to 10 million USDT, there’s a thrilling array of competitions to join and rewards to earn. First, WSOT features a Main Competition with a prize pool of up to 8 million USDT. There’s also a DEX competition in which users can trade any asset on Byreal DEX to earn a share of the total prize pool of $650,000 worth of bbSOL. And before the real heat starts, you can also join the WSOT 2025 Preheat Event — WSOT Trading Camp — with a prize pool of 670,000 USDT during the early registration period for even more exciting prizes, such as daily Mystery Boxes consisting of Reset Cards, MNT and USDT airdrops, and Lucky Draw prizes worth up to 1,000 USDT.

Who Can Participate in WSOT?

Anyone can participate in the tournament as long as they’re not part of service-restricted locations. That said, Market Makers, Pro users and Institutional users aren’t eligible, as these are usually institutional traders who would make the competition unfair due to their high trading volumes.

You must open a Unified Trading Account to participate in WSOT 2025. Just as with WSOT 2024, this year’s WSOT allows you to use Subaccounts to participate in multiple competitions simultaneously. You can open up to five accounts (one UTA Main Account and four Subaccounts). You’ll need to maintain at least 100 USDT in balance for each participating account to be eligible to participate in WSOT leaderboards of all kinds during the preheat event and the WSOT main competition (for PnL% and PnL leaderboards).

New users who join and deposit at least 100 USDT will earn USDT airdrops. You also get to earn rewards through referrals and achieving daily trading milestones. You can also participate in the Daily PnL% Leaderboard to compete for a daily $20,000 fixed prize pool, which will be distributed to the top 500 eligible participants daily.

Besides earning from trading, you also earn from learning: within a 10-day period, five tailored trading courses will be offered every two days on Bybit Learn Read to Earn. The first 1000 users who complete all of the courses will share the 20,000 USDT educational bonus pool equally.

WSOT On-Chain Trader House

WSOT On-Chain Trader House is a DEX competition co-hosted by Bybit Web3 and Byreal with a prize pool of $670,000 worth of bbSOL, running from Aug 18, 10AM UTC – Sep 15, 10AM UTC. To join the DEX competition, simply own a web3 wallet and trade any asset on the Byreal DEX to accumulate trading volume and quality for the Weekly/Final Leaderboard to earn a share of the rewards.

The prize pool is split 30/70, with 30% allocated to the Weekly Leaderboard and 70% set aside for the Final Leaderboard to help you claim a spot in the Trader Hall of Fame. Rewards are stackable, so you can earn from both the Weekly and Final Leaderboards.

The Weekly Leaderboard tracks your weekly cumulative trading volume in real time. During the four-week competition period, the top 500 traders each week will share in the reward, with higher-ranked participants earning a bigger portion of the reward.

For the Final Leaderboard, rankings are determined according to the monthly trading volume throughout the campaign. The top 1,000 traders will share the reward according to their rankings.
