MetaTrader 5 is a popular online trading platform designed for forex, stocks and futures trading. It provides advanced technical analysis tools, automated trading capabilities and various order types, allowing users to efficiently implement their trading strategies.
MetaTrader 5 (MT5) connects traders to financial markets through brokers. The platform provides a user-friendly interface so traders can view real-time quotes, perform technical analysis and execute trades.
Getting started: To use MT5, download the platform from the official MetaTrader 5 website. Then, install it on your computer and log in using your Bybit account details. Note that CFD trading requires a dedicated MT5 CFD Account, which is separate from your Unified Trading Account. You can fund it with USDT or BYUSDT, both displayed as USDx at a 1:1 ratio. Your MT5 login credentials (ID, server and password) are separate from your Bybit account credentials (Bybit UID). To find your MT5 ID, go to Asset → MT5 CFD Account. To set your password, use the reset password option to generate your initial login credentials.
Navigating the interface: The MT5 interface consists of several key components:
Trading: To place a trade, simply right-click on the chart of the instrument you want to trade, and select New Order. A window will appear so you can set the trade volume, stop loss and take profit levels. Then, click on Buy or Sell to execute the trade. Regardless of your trading style and strategies, MT5 has you covered with various order types and fill policies.
Tools and indicators: MT5’s wide range of technical analysis tools and indicators can be accessed from the Insert menu. These include trend lines, Fibonacci retracements, moving averages and many others. Such tools allow you to supercharge your charts so you can trade smarter and maximize your gains.
Automated trading with Expert Advisors: One of MT5's unique features is the ability to use Expert Advisors (EAs) for automated trading. EAs are programs that can perform trading operations automatically, based on predefined criteria. This approach allows traders to use algorithmic trading strategies to potentially enhance their trading performance. You can develop your own EAs using the MQL5 programming language, or import existing ones onto the platform.
Withdrawing and depositing funds: To deposit funds into your MT5 CFD Account, transfer USDT or BYUSDT from your Bybit account. To withdraw, transfer funds back from your MT5 CFD Account to your Bybit account. All transfers are managed within the Bybit platform under Asset → MT5 CFD Account.
Virtual hosting: MetaTrader 5 offers robust virtual hosting services to ensure that trading bots and EAs operate seamlessly 24/7 without interruption. This feature guarantees continuous trading activity, enhancing efficiency and reliability.
Mobile and web trading: For those who prioritize flexibility and mobility, MetaTrader 5 delivers with its web and mobile trading options. The MT5 web platform enables traders to operate from any web browser and device, offering unparalleled convenience. Its mobile applications ensure that traders can manage their activities on the go, with full functionality available on smartphones and tablets.

Bybit's integration of the MT5 platform brings a host of exclusive benefits tailored specifically for our traders, enhancing both performance and user experience. Following are some key advantages of using MT5 for Bybit CFD.
Enhanced leverage options: Bybit offers up to 500x leverage depending on instrument and asset class, allowing traders to maximize their potential returns while managing their investment size.
Two fee modes: Bybit CFD offers two fee modes to suit different trading styles. Zero-Fee Mode builds the cost into the spread, with no separate commission charged. Tight-Spread Mode provides narrower spreads and applies a separate commission per trade. You can choose the mode that best matches your strategy.
Access to 400+ instruments: Bybit CFD isn't limited to a single market. Traders can access 400+ instruments across forex, metals, indices, stocks and commodities. This variety enables traders to diversify their portfolios from a single platform.
Multiple access points: In addition to the MT5 desktop application, Bybit CFD is also accessible via the Bybit App and Bybit web, so you can manage your positions from wherever you trade. Positions, orders and balance changes sync across MT5 Terminal, Bybit App and Bybit web in real time.
Top-tier liquidity: By operating as a high-volume exchange, Bybit ensures that its CFD platform maintains best-in-class liquidity and market depth. This level of liquidity minimizes price impact on trade executions, ensuring that traders can enter and exit positions at the most optimal prices without significant slippage.
Reduced stop out level: Understanding the dynamics of market volatility, Bybit has set the stop out level on its MT5 platform at 50%. This lower threshold provides traders with an extra cushion against volatile market movements, helping to protect investments by preventing premature position liquidations.
These exclusive features of Bybit CFD are designed to provide traders with a powerful, efficient and flexible trading environment, making it a superior choice for accessing multiple financial markets.
MetaTrader 5 is well suited for CFD trading on Bybit, offering access to 400+ instruments across forex, metals, indices, stocks and commodities — all from a single, feature-rich platform. Its advanced charting tools, automated trading via Expert Advisors and real-time market data make it a strong choice for serious traders who want to apply structured strategies to traditional markets.
That said, it's worth understanding which Bybit product is the right fit for you. If you want to trade traditional asset classes such as forex, gold or equity indices, Bybit CFD on MT5 is the dedicated product. If you prefer trading crypto with perpetual contracts on Bybit's native interface, TradFi Perpetuals — which run through your Unified Trading Account — is the more appropriate choice. The two products serve different markets and use different account types, so it helps to be clear on your goals before getting started.
As with any leveraged product, risk management is essential. Always use stop-loss orders, size your positions appropriately and make sure you understand the fee mode you've selected before placing a trade.
